Educating Beyond Conventional Topics

In cooperation with another organization, STLI, CDI visited a boarding school in Southern Kyrgyzstan to conduct an educational seminar. The students were teenage girls who had come from villages around the city of Osh and some from villages even further away. Our goal was to provide these girls with essential health information that is rarely discussed openly in their families or communities.

Using our newly translated materials, we taught lessons on hygiene, puberty, relationships, and newborn care. We also covered practical safety topics, such as how to react if clothing were to catch on fire – information that was completely new to them. The atmosphere in the classroom was respectful; the girls were highly engaged, soaking up knowledge they had never received formally before.

This visit highlighted the great demand for our materials. By reaching these young women before they start their own families, we empower them to make informed decisions. We hope that they will carry this understanding back to their villages and help share our translated videos with a wider audience.
