Influence!

In April, staff from CDI’s Jalalabad office attended a meeting with city officials, other NGOs, and local press to coordinate food distribution efforts for citizens affected by the pandemic shutdown. After the meeting, while CDI staff were discussing the meeting and preparing to leave, the top official in the government humanitarian program approached the group. One American staff member complimented the official on his plans but made some suggestions about ideas for social distancing, simple things like not shaking hands or sharing pens. In the course of the conversation, she showed the official the flyer CDI includes in all the aid packages we distribute. The official was impressed and asked if all the groups could use it. So CDI staff produced 300 more copies of the flyer (including CDI’s logo!). Now more families in rural southern Kyrgyzstan have useful health information in addition to basic food necessities.
