First Grade for the First Time

Little lives are changing in the Belivosk orphanage. Children with special needs are getting an education for the first time ever. Last year CDI partnered with another organization to see 12 children finish first grade.

The orphanage committee was skeptical but willing to give the project a try. It was such a success that now the Ministry of Social Welfare is considering duplicating this program in similar orphanages across the country.

For graduation CDI held a ceremony and a special meal. Each child received a certificate and both teachers got gifts. The orphanage director wants to expand the program for next year. We hope to find funds for eight more chairs and tables which will allow more children to study in the coming year.
