Showing a New Way
“Aygul” has been dealing with children with cerebral palsy for many years, giving them heavy massages and dealing with their discomfort as a result. One day, the director of her center called the staff to a new training. A group from the capital city, CDI’s mobility team, came showing the center staff another way to help these children. Aygul learned simple exercises that redirected the movements of the children’s spastic limbs. These exercises were lighter and easier for the children to endure. CDI staff helped Aygul and her colleagues better understand the effects of CP on the children and ways to increase the children’s mobility. CDI hopes to see a stronger adherence to evidence-based medical treatment spread throughout Kyrgyzstan.
